Lionsgate Executive Director Stan Hacker gives his pre-spring break address to the LGA community. He thanks the staff, students and parents who were involved with the spring play and previews the upcoming art show. Mr. Hacker also gives important information about the upcoming April 15th fundraiser and Driver’s Education at Lionsgate.
The Lionsgate School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM at Lionsgate Academy.
The school board is comprised of three groups: parents, staff and community members. There are nine regular positions on the board and this election will fill five upcoming vacancies in the following categories:
1 Parent
1 Staff Member
3 Community Members
All LGA staff and parents of currently enrolled students are eligible to vote.
Please see the School Board Election Page for more information.
The School Board will meet at 6:00 tonight at Lionsgate Academy. The School Board will discuss the moderator format for “Meet the Candidates” night, review the Governance Committee Charge and update the community on driver’s education at Lionsgate.
There are clubs this week, but there are no after school clubs the week after spring break (April 11-15), because it is the first week of the quarter. New sign up forms will sent home Wednesday, March 30th for 4th quarter clubs and will also be available on the website by the end of the day on Wednesday. There will be some club changes, but many will stay the same.
If your student was involved in the play (acting) they do not have clubs on Wednesday or Thursday (this week), but if they would like to participate in Comedy Improv today (only), Ms. Prill will be running that club in the Fellowship Hall. If your student was involved in Theater Tech, they are welcome to join the multi-media club on Wednesday.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Ms. Prill (sprill@lgamn.org) or Mr. Suggs (dsuggs@lgamn.org).

After some diligent research I’ve learned that “the Ides of March” is not only an ancient Roman festival on the 15th of march, it was also a one-hit-wonder from the early 1970′s.
Pointless news aside, it’s time for Transition updates:
* Calling all Green Thumbs! Just as soon as the ground thaws, our Lionsgate Community Garden will be managed by some transitions students. Learning objectives will range from personal nutrition, recreation/leisure and plain ‘ol work ethic.
* Fishy News… the DNR sponsors a “fishin’ in the neighborhood program” in which local students/schools can stock a local lake and learn the finest in fishing and environmental management techniques. Again, coming soon when it warms up.
* Ticket to ride… during the week of May 16th, metro transit will pay a visit to our juniors and seniors with a hands on “how to ride” demonstration. That’s right, our very own bus… at least for a few hours.
