Last week before February Break! We finish up our Value, a large drawing of Mr. Gorder, and start to move on to Texture. We start learning about “Implied” texture and after break we will be doing texture weavings. Have a great week off everyone!

Thank you to Dennis and Diane, our guest artists from last week! We got to hear a lot of interesting stories and learn about the Native American culture. Thanks for showing us all your great beading work! This week we explore our value project further. We will be creating a LARGE portrait of Mr. Gorder, the staff member who the student’s chose, in the style of Chuck Close!

I can’t believe Quarter 2 is already over! We’ve made it half way! In Art Class, we have officially finished the Alebrije project…and it was SO fun! Now we’re starting on our next Element of Art: Value. We are learning about Chuck Close and will be doing a collaborative class portrait of a favorite staff member! Working in the style of Mr. Close, we will not be doing some small portrait, but instead we will make it Large and In Charge…any votes for who we should make a portrait of?

We are finishing up the clay  Alebrije project…and they are SOOO cool! Can’t wait to show them off that the Arts Showcase this April! Next up is VALUE, and we will be learning about the artist Chuck Close and doing a group value drawing project.
