Welcome back everyone!

As we start this new quarter, students are encouraged to get organized by cleaning out old assignments and materials that are not needed as we move forward. The Goal this final quarter of the year is to keep caught up on assignments and have the most successful quarter of the year.

We will be studying chemical reactions this quarter in chemistry.  This is exciting for both students and teacher because it means lots of fun activities. I invite you to continue visiting the lesson plan website to keep updated on the happenings in Chemistry class.

Thanks!

Ms. Peterson

In chemistry students have been exploring crystals! They have used what they have learned about ionic compounds and the formation of crystals to design their own experiments.  They will use this exploration to learn the skills of writing a lab report.  We will see whose experiments will support their hypothesis as we watch the crystals grow.

Please visit the updated lessons at the link below, which include learning goals, the agenda, assignments and vocabulary.

We are settling into third quarter and anticipating the spring and warmer weather to get outside and explore biology first hand.  We are currently studying cell division and reproduction, which will lead nicely into our next topic: genes! The students are excited to learn about genes and be able to do some DNA extractions.  This week we will be looking at onion cells in mitotic action under microscopes we have on lend from the Science Museum of MN.

Follow the link below to find lessons, daily agenda and activities, as well as an assignment log and vocabulary list.  I encourage you to use these resources to help enrich your students learning.
