This course covers the migrations of early peoples, the rise of civilizations, the establishment of governments and religions, the growth of economic systems, and the ways in which these events shaped Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Students will engage in a variety of instructional activities, including, but not limited to, lecture, class discussion, cooperative groups, and independent research. Economic concepts and the emergence of government structure and political theory will be researched within the context of this class as well. FYI: At the start of second semester, this class will turn its focus from world history to world geography.

    Here are the ANSWERS Unit 2 Study Guide. This has answers for all the questions EXCEPT the Short Answer Questions.

    Short Answer questions were reviewed in class. Students had the opportunity to ask for answers on any Short answer question they had and see the responses the class came up with.

    Tuesday the 24th we will be having our Unit 2 Test on Ancient India. Students. We have been working on studying for the upcoming test in class using study guides and review games.

    Students have received the Unit 2 Study Guide containing review questions. This also has sample Short Answer questions. These are the questions that I will be choosing from for the test. The Study Guide is not a graded assignment and does not need to be turned in for a grade, but it is highly recommended that students work on completing this to prepare for test day. On Friday students will have the opportunity to ask any questions they might have.

This course is an introductory study in sociology, the study of social behavior and the organization of human society. The study of sociology illustrates how the groups, or social structures, that one belongs to have an influence on the way you think, feel, and act. Sociology looks at groups rather than individuals.

Students will learn about the historical development of the field of sociology and the procedures for conducting research in sociology. Students will also learn the importance and role of culture, social structure, socialization, and social change in today’s society. Major themes for this course include deviance and social control, inequalities of gender and age, family and marriage, and social issues surrounding modern sports.
