The World Cultures curriculum is designed to give the student a global perspective by examining seven cultural regions of the world. Students will explore and analyze the geography, history, religion/philosophies, values systems, cultural factors such as language, art, music and contemporary issues including the economic situation for each region as well as studies of family and kinship patterns, marriage types, political and economic structures, religion and magic, and the concepts of beauty and art. By the end of the course students should be able to compare these cultural factors across a global perspective. The goal of the course is to prepare students for the ever-growing interdependence of the world in which they will live and work and to help prepare them for their responsibilities as participating citizens of the global society in the 21st century.
